Really unique place for downstate IL! It’s a half hour drive from home, but worth it. Excellent food, clearly made with love. Simple, clean, & comfortable ambiance, great service. It’s great to have more options. I got to try goat meat, it was excellent. Spices well balanced, texture on point. Bissap is delicious! We shared plantains, two kinds of rice & cassava leaf stew. (Samosas!) Will be back!

Had a fantastic meal at Taste of Africa! The food was absolutely delicious and bursting with authentic flavors – a real treat. What truly elevated the experience was the **warm and attentive customer service**; the staff made us feel genuinely welcome. Even the end was impressive – they provided **really nice, sturdy boxes and bags** for our leftovers, which was a thoughtful touch. Highly recommend for great food and a lovely dining experience!

I loved everything we ordered, my favorite were the beef samosa, and the crevette. Kate is an amazing host and also happens to be the only cook there so I recommend being prepared to wait when dining in or pre-ordering. It’s SO worth the wait and I can’t wait to come back!!

The food was AMAZING! It felt like comfort food I didn't know existed yet. The flavors were bold and exotic but somehow familiar at the same time. Definitely try the Bissap drink, you won't be disappointed. Everything I had was great. I am so appreciative that our new immigrant neighbors are sharing their food and culture with us and I hope they're here to stay!

Great food and excellent service. The hot sauce is very spicy and all of the food is so flavorful. We got the fufu and a few soups. Everything was fantastic!

We stopped through on our trip to Sterling and met this wonderful chef Cathy! She cooked us AMAZING African food and even educated us about their food! She was a delight! We will be back! Jenny and Jabbar

This restaurant is absolutely amazing. The food was delicious and fresh. My fiance is from Nigeria and he was equally impressed with the food. We ordered got meat, joliff rice, and grilled chicken; we are definitely going back!!!

I came here with some friends while visiting from Maryland and we thoroughly enjoyed the food. The appetizers were a great intro to the restaurant. We ordered samosas and very moist puff puff. Definitely one of the best puff puff I’ve ever had. From the entrees we ordered, the grilled pork and grilled fish were my favorite. Very well seasoned and cooked to perfection. The jollof rice was also really good. They are in the process of changing their menu so some of the prices weren’t updated but the chef was very apologetic about the minor confusion. I would highly recommend this place!!
